Programs - Music - Summer Music Camp

Dear Parents and Students:

The Melbourne Municipal Band (MMB) in conjunction with the Melbourne Police Athletic League (PAL) is offering a Beginning Band Summer Music Camp for all 6^th grade students interested in learning to play a musical instrument.  The camp will be held at the Melbourne Municipal Band Room behind the Melbourne Auditorium.

The Music Camp will run from July 7^th thru July 31^st.  It will be 4 days a week (Monday thru Thursday) from 9 AM thru 11 AM.  Each student will receive a ½ hour music lesson with a qualified teacher on his or her instrument.  There will be a concert on the final day of the program, July 31^st at 6:00 PM.  We ask parents to bring a covered dish to enjoy at the conclusion of the concert.  Drinks will be provided by the Melbourne Municipal Band.

The students attend the program free of charge.  The only cost encountered is the monthly rental of the instrument and the lesson book. The rental of the instrument is applied toward the purchase of the instrument.

 If you have an instrument in your home that your son or daughter would like to play, please take it to one of the music stores listed to make sure it is in good working order.

A registration form is available on our web site here. Please fill the registration form and return it by Friday, June 27, 2008 to the address on the form.

Rentals and lesson books will be through the music stores directly.
